In-hospital Delivery

Our medical service starts from the birth of your child. Whether it’s a natural delivery or a C-Section we can either attend the delivery, or see your child shortly after the delivery. We are registered to attend deliveries at all major private hospitals in Kingston so please ask your Obstetrician or call us to make arrangements.

What Happens Right After Birth

Depending on your desires and the rules of the hospital or birth center where your baby is delivered, the first exam will either take place in the nursery or at your side:

Weight, length, and head circumference will be measured.
Temperature will be taken, and your baby’s breathing and heart rate will be measured.
Your baby’s skin color and activities will also be noted and monitored by the hospital.
In the event that we notice any concerns about the baby’s health, steps will be taken to provide the necessary medical care.
We will recommend hospital discharge at the appropriate time and schedule office visits for the first weeks after delivery
